I have been a Chicago area resident for most of my life. I attended the University of Illinois to study architecture then moved to the West Coast for 8 years. After spending several years in architecture I moved to the emerging world of digital graphics and the internet. Along the way I started painting as an output for my creative energy. I also spend time on photography and road trips to inspiring destinations, usually desolate and extreme, and always visually exciting.
I begin my art with sketches of the built environment and human altered landscapes. Some sketches are detailed, but most are rough since the design always changes as I paint. I have painted with watercolor, oil, and acrylics, usually on wood panel. My goal for finished paintings is to create a scene based on realism with hints of the unexpected.
